A few random thoughts from today...

Co-worker : I was over at [Other co-worker]'s house on Friday and they mentioned that they had stumbled onto your blog and found your writing very intellectual (not that you aren't) and expressive and thoughtful. Unlike when you're at work and generally quiet and conversations are very work related.

Me : I made a blog post about that where I discussed the fact that I spend huge amounts of energy trying to ensure that I don't sound like an ass. It's better to be seen as quiet, shy, and reserved than it is to come across as an ass.

For the record, I find it frustrating that I must put on a facade to avoid being seen as an ass. I find it annoying that everyone is so damn sensitive that we have to sugar-coat every last word in order to avoid hurting someones feelings because they have yet to grow up. We are all adults, if you can't act like it then I suggest you consider checking into a facility that can provide you with all of the butterflies and padded rooms you desire.

Edit: To be clear, I take this as a compliment. Knowing that I don't seem like an ass to my co-workers means a lot to me.

Co-worker : There is a distinct difference between the power we have and the power we are perceived to have.

Me : Agreed.

For the record, I have no power. If I did have power I wouldn't approve the spending of thousands (could be millions) of dollars on technology that has been rendered obsolete by things like Twitter and Facebook and Drupal.

Twitter : Blocked : Chat ... WTF?!?!?!
