Quarantined
Wednesday, 9:00 PM - Zonk! I'm out cold. I should sleep very well tonight which means that tomorrow will be a very productive day at work.
Thursday, 12:15 AM - Ouch! @#%&! My throat should not feel like this. Well, there goes getting any sleep. I'm wide awake now, guess I'll play some wow. Maybe grinding on a low level toon will help me sleep (it normally does).
Thursday, 2:00 AM - Based on the amount of pain I'm experiencing I probably have strep throat. This sucks. While I enjoy having a day off work where I can do nothing but relax this is not the time for it. I've got a major project due in under 2 weeks and I really need to be at work.
Thursday, 4:30 AM - Not gonna be going to work. Alarm is still set. Kids still have to go to school. I'm gonna take a short nap before then.
Thursday, 5:30 AM - Alarm goes off. Kids must be awakened and prepared for school. Beloved wife is handling that, I can snooze a bit longer.
Thursday, 6:00 AM - Light and sound have culminated to the point that I can no longer snooze. I turn on the television and veg.
Thursday, 7:40 AM - My doctor has no openings today. They can get me in on Monday.
Thursday, 7:45 AM - I take a shower and notice that the water should be hot but feels ice cold. I'm either losing my mind or running a fever. Neither of which can be a good thing.
Thursday, 8:30 AM - I'm now at the Minor Emergency Clinic. Basically a walk in doctor's office that costs double what the regular doctor does. In general, I get the same level of service but I can just show up.
Thursday, 10:45 AM - After paperwork and waiting and more paperwork and waiting the doctor is happy to report that I've got strep throat. I should be happy. I get a 4 day weekend! Too bad I'm not happy.
-------------------------
As I said before, I've got a project that requires my attention. Not being to work on that project is very frustrating. Knowing that I've got things that need to be done and being unable to do them is very frustrating. Knowing that I'll feel great in the morning and be ready to go back to work but unable to is frustrating.
I wish there was a way to turn off the part of my brain that allows me to problem solve and get things done. Then I could enjoy the fact that I've got four days to do nothing at all. Four days to be Quarantined.
